The National Testing Agency successfully conducted JEE Mains Exam 2025, which is one of the most significant tests for all aspiring engineers in India. It took place on 29 January 2025 with two shifts. One between 9 AM and 12 PM, and the other between 3 PM and 6 PM. This analysis takes into account the structure, content, and levels of difficulty of question papers from both shifts and gives insights to future candidates and educators.

Overall Scheme and Pattern of Examination

JEE Mains Exam 2025 retained the conventional pattern with three distinct sections: Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. The weightage of questions in these sections was identical. Half of the questions were MCQ-type, and the rest were numerical value-based. The test was for a total of three hours. And, it had a lot of mixed views with the majority of students feeling that Maths was the hardest of all.

Jee Mains Exam Today General Toughness Level

The general feeling among the examinees was that the exams on January 29 were of average toughness. Some portions were tough due to the complexity of solving problems, while some portions were easy, testing simple concepts.

Physics

Shift 1

The Physics section was of average difficulty. Questions covered all the topics ranging from Mechanics, Electrodynamics, Thermodynamics, and Modern Physics. Of course, a large number of questions were on Mechanics that tested the concept understanding and their applications. Then, there was a good amount of questions on Electrodynamics which tested the student’s theoretical as well as practical skills.

Shift 2

The physics portion was a bit tougher in the test, as the subjects were the same as in Shift 1, but the questions necessitated more complex analysis. Problems of Modern Physics and Optics involved more complicated calculations, especially where numerical problems would require multiple arithmetic steps.

Chemistry

Shift 1

Chemistry was the easiest of the three sections. The paper balanced questions from Physical, Organic, and Inorganic Chemistry. Questions from Physical Chemistry were direct applications of formulas. Organic Chemistry has a lot to do with reaction mechanisms and named reactions. Inorganic Chemistry had a lot to do with periodic properties and coordination compounds.

Shift 2

The chemistry section was at par with last year’s difficulty level. Calculative questions in Physical Chemistry were manageable, while Organic Chemistry emphasized reaction mechanisms and stereochemistry. Inorganic Chemistry included questions on periodic trends and chemical bonding.

Mathematics

Shift 1

The hardest part was Mathematics. There were all types of questions – some from Calculus, Algebra, Coordinate Geometry, and Trigonometry. Most of them were based on Calculus, including questions that asked for differentiation, integration, and problems based on application. Algebra consisted of complex equations and inequalities and Coordinate Geometry had circles and conic sections.

Shift 2

Mathematics, notwithstanding, had grown more manageable as students mastered tedious calculations throughout lengthy problems involved, for instance in Probability, Complex Numbers, and Matrices.

Quis are often sought using deep ideas regarding conceptual understanding accompanied by effective time-cutting resolving abilities.
